Before I go any further, I want to stress that this is my opinion and my opinion only. I say that because recently Xbox fans have been a bit touchy about the Xbox One and the debate between that and the PlayStation 4.
The PS4 VS Xbox One debate has been a massive topic of debate on Social Networking websites such as Twitter this week with E3 going on and many new features of both systems being showcased. The Xbox One looks to be an all in one media centre with support for cable TV whereas the PS4 concentrates on what it does best – gaming, with a better social element than the PS3.
I feel that Microsoft have really messed up their pitch of the Xbox One. Why? They’ve changed from the equivalent of living in a free country to living in Guantanamo Bay. Restrictions on everything from lending games to friends to paying extra to Microsoft for buying second hand games. It’s a bad move on their part. On the other hand, Sony played on this and even showed a video demonstrating how laid back their second hand gaming regulations are on the PS4, which you can see here;
As well as that, they require a connection to the Internet at least once every 24 hours and require a Kinect 2.0 to be plugged in at all times during use while the PS4 doesn’t require either of these.
With all these restrictions, the lack of such restrictions on the PS4 (which is the norm for gaming now) makes it look amazing when in actual fact, it’s not done anything different from the current generation of gaming. Pair that with the fact that the PS4 has a better hardware specification and is a whopping £80 cheaper than the Xbox One, it’s not looking good at this stage for the Xbox One.
What do you think? Have Microsoft shot themselves in the foot? Or do you think the Xbox One is the better console? Let me know in the comments below!
