The event, sometimes referred to as “No Shave November” was started in Australia in 2003, with only 30 people participating and getting donations from friends and family to donate to Prostate and Testicular Cancer. By 2011, that number had grown to 854,000 and is growing more every year. The idea? Starting November 1st, you have to grow and sport your own moustache and not shave it off until the end of November – turning hundreds of thousands of mens faces around the world into walking billboards promoting awareness of prostate and testicular cancer.
Want to get involved? Just head over to Movember.com and register as a MoBro or a MoSista (MoBros being the guys and MoSistas being the women who donate and support the cause). All donations are done via the website and you’re given a profile page to show off your ‘stache and the amount of money you raise over the course of the month.
I’m personally doing Movember and if you want to check out my Movember page and donate, just click here. Any donations are welcome and everyone that donates will be listed in a post at the end of the month, thanking everyone for their generosity.
