Blackberry Messenger 7 Released with Voice Calling!

Last month, RIM announced Blackberry Messenger 7.0 with one interesting new addition – free voice calls to other BBM users over WiFi. Well, it’s finally out of BETA and available for download on the Blackberry App World (if you’re running Blackberry OS 6 anyway). Curious to see how it works? Here’s a video from RIM demoing the new feature;

That’s not all new in BBM 7 though – there are also 16 new emoticons that you can have fun with (sticking it to Apple and their emoji!). You can also sync your Groups, Contacts and BBM Profile with your Blackberry ID – changing devices has never been so easy!

I have to add here that in certain countries it is still in BETA testing and not available for general download but will be soon enough. Also, it’s not currently available for Blackberry OS5 devices (the older Blackberry models) but the company say that it will be available for those users next year. Is this update enough to challenge the likes of iMessage and FaceTime on Apple devices? Let us know in the comments section below!
