Apple sends out invites for the iPad Mini event

Now, it’s not set in stone that the iPad Mini will be unveiled on the 23rd October, but the tag line “we’ve got a little more to show you” emphasises they’ve got something smaller than an existing product to show us. The rumours that have been going around the internet for what seems like forever finally look like they’re coming true!

So, what can we expect from an iPad Mini? Well, according to various sources on the internet, you can expect the following;

  • a 7.85 inch screen
  • 1024×768 resolution (same as the iPad & iPad 2)
  • thinner and lighter than any current iPad
  • Priced at around £200 for the basic one
  • Lightning cable connection
It does make sense though, especially with smaller, cheaper tablets such as the Kindle Fire and the Nexus 7 – Apple are loosing out on quite a large market only producing higher end tablets.

But a whole event just talking about a smaller iPad? They can’t have that much to say about it. So what else could they be announcing? The folks at Cult of Mac predict a new iMac, sporting the Teardrop design. They’ve even made some mockups;

As well as a new iMac, there’s also rumours about a possible 13 inch MacBook Pro with retina display, and maybe even a variation of a MacBook Pro to replace the discontinued Macbook. Who knows? Do you like the new teardrop design? What do you think about the idea of a smaller iPad?
